Since 1997 I have represented the residents of Twickenham, Whitton, St Margarets, Strawberry Hill, Teddington and the Hamptons in Parliament, no matter which political party they supported.

Advice surgeries

I hold advice surgeries for local residents every week on a Friday. They take place in my constituency office at 2a Lion Road, Twickenham from 5-7pm. If you wish to see me at my surgery, you need to contact my office to arrange an appointment. I will be unable to see anyone who arrives at my offices without a prior appointment. Appointments can be made by telephoning 020 8892 0215.

Please note: there will not be surgeries on 10th October and 14th November.

    The NHS Mental Health Trust for the area has confirmed in writing to MP Vincent Cable that there are no plans to close the Maddison Centre as had been rumoured. Vincent Cable said that he was "moderately" reassured but "the authorities have left the door ajar by saying there are no 'current plans'; so we need to be vigilant".

    Vince Cable MP is urging people to join the campaign to dramatically increase the number of people trained in life-saving CPR and help create a Nation of Lifesavers.

    More than 30,000 people suffer an out of hospital cardiac arrest in the UK every year - 80% of which occur in the home, often in front of family members and loved ones. But fewer than one in ten people survive, partly because not enough people have the skills and confidence to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

    Vince Cable and his wife Rachel both took to the water at Hampton Pool to support the Crossways Pregnancy Crisis Centre. They joined 37 other swimmers, aged from 6 to 70+ swam a magnificent total of 35 miles - equivalent to crossing to France and getting 2/3 of the way back to England again!

    Opening the event, Vince told fellow swimmers "I know from meeting people who come to my surgery for help that the Pregnancy Centre meets a real need". The money raised by swimathon exceeded the original target for the event the

    Vince Cable MP has said he is very concerned about the "studied ambiguity" of the RFU's response to proposals that Chelsea should play their home games at Twickenham while Stamford Bridge is rebuilt.

    In response to a letter from the MP to the Chief Executive Ian Ritchie, he's declined to rule out the Chelsea deal and the RFU has so for not responded to a petition of over 1,000 residents gathered by North Twickenham Lib Dem councillors.

    Vince Cable MP and St Margaret's & North Twickenham ward councillors have given their stamp of approval to news that the post office at 118 St Margaret's Road will soon be upgraded to become a Main Branch.
    The revitalised post office will be fully refurbished, will offer longer opening hours, car tax provision and a range of additional post office services will be offered at the retail counter during shop opening hours.

    MP Vincent Cable is demanding an urgent meeting with senior BAA managers and BAA have promised to hold a public meeting with residents following a massive surge in complaints regarding air craft noise.

    Thousands of residents have appealed to BAA to stop the trials with new flight paths which are causing great annoyance, especially in Teddington.

    Responding to concerns raised by The Teddington Society and other local groups and residents Twickenham MP Vince Cable has received a briefing from the Environment Agency.

    The Environment Agency report dealt with a variety of issues including noise, flood risk, the impact on the environment and river wildlife and health and safety issues relating to boat users and the public in general.

    Twickenham MP Vince Cable has shown his support for a local family support charity in its bid to be awarded a grant of up to £3000 from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014.

    Home Start Richmond, a local charity based in East Sheen and serving the borough as a whole, does vital work in the field of family support. The charity trains volunteers to support local young children in families going through difficulties such as disability, bereavement, illness, isolation and family breakdown. Last year they supported around 500 children in 250 families in the borough of Richmond upon Thames.

    Vince Cable MP and councillors from Hampton & Ham (Cllrs Penny Frost, Suzette Nicholson and Gareth Roberts) have reacted positively to news that the Department for Communities and Local Government has, at long last, given provisional approval to the byelaw which will enable the council to take decisive action to deal with anti-social and nuisance behaviour associated with unauthorised moorings on the Thames.

    Vince Cable is seeking a meeting with the council and local allotment groups after residents have protested that an expansion of Teddington cemetery will be made at the expense of allotments.

    Vince Cable said, "I have been campaigning for allotments for years both in Parliament and locally. Their popularity is growing and there are now long waiting lists, whereas some years ago it was difficult to find tenants in some sites.
